As an Assistant Cook on Mary Day, you would contribute to unforgettable dining experiences for our guests. This entry role is perfect for those interested in learning how to sail a traditionally rigged topsail schooner while working in the galley, supporting the head cook in meal preparation and serving delightful, locally sourced dishes. The ideal candidates are those who love cooking, are eager to learn, and can excel in a team-focused, fast-paced setting. Come aboard and help us provide outstanding hospitality while sailing the Maine coast!

Jenny B. began her journey as the Assistant Cook with no previous knowledge of schooners. In her first year, she learned the intricacies of sailing and the mechanics of schooners. After advancing to deckhand for another season, she has now launched her own business as a professional sailmaker creating sails for the entire windjammer fleet.
