Winter with the upcoming Solstice and holiday season is a wonderful time of year. In a world full of stress and anxiety we all associate with things that make us happy, like Christmas, Hanukkah, or Kwanza decorations which of course bring us all back to our happy days of childhood and family bonding. The holiday spirit is all about being cheerful and happy, a celebration of life. It's the feeling of joy, warmth, and nostalgia we feel when the jingle bells start jingling. As we all celebrate this time of the year differently, we all get that moment to feel the touch of the holiday magic in one way or another.
For us, the annual tradition of cutting down, lighting, and hoisting the Christmas tree on top of the mainmast of Mary Day is one of the many holiday magical moments we enjoy. It's the sharing of the event, the feel-good of doing something for others, the response from the community as they rejoice with happiness and pride for the windjammers. It's downright heartwarming. It's Hygge to the core. A tradition we'll continue to carry on for as long as we can.
If you want to get into the Christmas spirit, spend time doing festive activities which you enjoy, share your experiences with the people you love, and do whatever ritual makes sense to you. Give the Gift of Christmas cheer and enjoy the magic of the emotions this festive season brings to all. May our gift of cheer inspire others and spread hope and joy throughout the season and the upcoming year.
Be well, Do good. Have a joyous holiday season.
